Longwall Hydraulics have recently completed a Longwall Pump Station overhaul for one of our valued customers, Anglo Coal’s – Moranbah North Mine, which is based in North Queensland.
The original pump station was manufactured in 2013, and this is the first time the station has been out of the mine for a full overhaul.
The overhaul consisted of the following key areas:
- Complete disassembly of all components; blast, NDT and repaint all fabrications
- Overhaul of all Kamat Pumps including hydraulic valving
- Shearer Water Pump overhauls
- Complete motor overhauls
- Full electrical overhaul
- Crawler track overhauls
- Complete hydraulic re hose of oil and system emulsion hydraulics
As part of the project scope, Longwall Hydraulics completed full on power 3.3kV, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure all systems were functionally tested, providing the guarantee of a seamless install underground. This was proven with the recent underground commissioning running exceptionally smooth, with the mine back into full production within a week.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, site representatives were unable to travel down for the whole FAT. By using video footage and live conference call technology for all the testing, our customer was able to be involved and witness key elements of the FAT prior to despatch back to mine site.
The overhaul was completed with another three OEM machines being manufactured, along with another complete Pump Station overhaul for a NSW based customer in the factory. With nine carts in progress at once, the workshop was at full capacity throughout this period.
A big thank you to the Longwall Hydraulics team involved, as well as all our local vendors, in particular the teams at Dynelec and Pirtek. Another successful project completed on time, on budget to the highest quality standards.
